Hi Bernadette and CHarmaine. My aunt,my dad's sister has told me some of the history as she was told. Apparently ontong was a name of their forefathers. I'm not sure how many generations. He was a slave,and. Got married. With their first childs birth,they used ontong as their surname. My dad was born in Koffie fontein,Oppermans grond. He was Abel Aldridge Ontong. My grand father was Karel Ontong. My dads mom was Susan De Koker.my aunts were Yvonne and Catherine Ontong. My dad and yvonne passed on. Aunt Catherine or Calla as we call her is still alive.
